Salmon are now starting to stage for the run up the rivers.

Monday August 12th Vic Farley caught a 34.34 pound salmon on my boat using a Howie Fly. It is the largest Salmon turned in at Port Hope in the Great Ontario Salmon Derby.

Water temperature is now in the 70's and we are fishing down 30 to 50 feet.

The last few days have been extremely hot and a couple of guys from the Brockville area switched to water instead of beer to drink. No tagged fish has been caught yet and the Derby will be over next Saturday August the 24th.

There is one opening left next week on Wednesday the 21st or Thursday the 22nd because of a cancellation.

The Great Ontario Salmon Derby was a great success last year with the winning Salmon being 39.04 lbs. and the derby will be run again this year from July 6 to August 24, 2002 .

I wish also to thank my sister for looking after my
e-mail when I am away fishing Salmon and Trout in the summer months.
